The human geneticist at large: notes from the field

Content here explores the aims, experiences, and challenges of studying human genetic variation, which starts with the collection and analysis of DNA from people around the world. Some of the posts first appeared as online commentary from the road, documenting the experiences of Genomena’s founder on a 5-month overland field expedition in 1998. As part of a small expeditionary team, he helped collect hundreds of DNA samples from diverse populations in southwest and central Asia. Those samples have yielded striking insights into the complex human history of that long-settled region.
